Word of the Day

Word Of The Day is a practice technique I use to work on melodic writing and improvisation. For more info. on how the technique works, check out This Blog Post. The results usually get posted to my Reverb Nation profile, or you can use the player below:

"Other" Projects

Sometimes, I just like to sit in the studio and see what I can come up with! Here's a few examples (frequently rotations off of my Myspace page):

Backstage Pass

I like to record my performances and rehearsals both for study and archive purposes. The quality isn't great (I use a digital voice recorder, meant for dictation, and I am coming from the back of the stage). I'll rotate some stuff through this section to keep it current!

  • Raleigh Symphony performing Finlandia by Sibelius. One of my rare appearances on timpani!
  • Raleigh Symphony performing La Guiablesse by William Grant Still. Andrew Riley on second percussion part.
  • Durham Symphony performing Brahms' Fourth Symphony, third movement (I'm on Triangle!)
  • Lullabye Of Birdland, played by the Will McBride Group at Flipside in Clayton, 2.05.05
  • Dibon, played by an ensemble led by Beverly Bottsford on lead djembe, at a Community African Dance class in Durham (I'm on dundunba, the low, thuddy bass drum)

here's some oldies! I had a jazz group back in '97 or so called Blue Matter. The bass player made some lo-fi recordings at some of our sets:
